December #RAK Wrap-Up

Posted on 20:37 by Unknown

I LOVE R.A.K! I love receiving and sending out books. I get super excited to do both!

This month, someone said they were sending me a little something but I have not received it so I don't know what it is :) Check out below what I sent!

I sent Ren from RensRambles a paperback copy of Dear John as promised a couple months ago. She wanted some Nicholas Sparks books and what better book to send than this most amazing story? :D

I sent two bookmarks to Anna from Anna's Book Blog. She had the books but not the bookmarks so I thought it would be a great addition. For those signed up for January #RAK, ehem, I have the bookmarks but not the books Lol! :)

I sent these #RAK just in time for the holidays and I was told that both of these lovely women received theirs on Christmas Eve :) It really feels awesome to give back :)

Random Survey :)

Posted on 14:05 by Unknown
I found this survey when I couldn't sleep last night...

Did you and your last ex have an amazing relationship?
The first 7 months were amazing. After that, it's subjective.

Do you like to cuddle?
Sure as long as I like the person

Do you believe that the last person that you hugged cares for you?
I think one of my cousin hugged me last. He cares as much as he could possibly get

How long does it take you to fall asleep at night?
Depends.. Am I being plagued with thoughts of someone or am I extremely tired?

What do you think of Shia LaBeouf?
He grew up to be a superstar.

Look in your inbox on your cell phone; who are all the people you have text messages from?
Hah! It's a secret. I annoyingly erase all my text messages except for two people and one of them is my landlady.

Would you change yourself for the person you love?
After my first relationship, I learned that I should never have to do that

When was the last time you cried?
Uh.. I almost cried last night watching Charlie St. Cloud :)

Do you prefer to take your showers at night or in the morning?
I just do them in the morning to get them over with. It also helps me start my day.

Do you have a reason to smile right now?
I'm eating shrimp and fried chicken with Tapatio hot sauce. I think that's a reason to smile, right?

Have you ever kissed a girl?
Not really.

Where did u go on holiday this year?
in Temecula, lol

If you could go back in time and change things, would you?
Sometimes I wish I could, but I wouldn't be wiser now if those things didn't happen.

Ah crap. my ex.

What would your name be with the first three letters?
Ari - which means a woman's private part in Tagalog by the way...

do u like cabbage?
Sure

What was the reason behind why you last cried?
I was watching Charlie St. Cloud - a really touching story

Where did you sleep three nights ago?
My own bed

As dull as it can possibly get

I've never had beer... ever.

It's fine.

Are you ready for kids?
NO. Someday I will be.

I don't know who that was coz I deleted it. But the latest person in my inbox... Uh... I doubt we'd have a baby, we're not exactly compatible as it seems.

Where did you get your last bruise from?
Fell down a stupid stair. One stair. And I was limping during rehearsals lol.

Not really...

Is anything bothering you right now?
Uhm... The fact that I need to go to the kitchen and get some water to drink is bothering me. LOL

Do you like anyone atm?
I guess so. But I'm trying to reign myself back and erase all that liking business. I can't sleep at night because of it!!

Charlie St. Cloud Movie Review

Posted on 22:03 by Unknown
 "It's about taking chances."

This movie put tears in my eyes. Zac Efron was phenomenal in this movie about losing someone's brother and refusing to let go. But sometimes, it is time to move on.

Charlie St. Cloud was a great sailor. He won the race with his brother in the beginning of the movie, won an award, and got a scholarship to Stanford. He was prepared to go, if it wasn't for a tragic accident that claimed his little brother Sam. In fact, both of them died, but Charlie came back to life and was given a second chance in life.

He went on for five years "mourning" his brother. He stayed where he was and didn't go to Stanford while his mother moved to Portland, perhaps to run away from the tragedy. Charlie met his brother in the woods everyday before sunset to practice baseball. His visits never failed, until he met Tess.

Tess was a former high school classmate. She was supposed to sail around the world and compete in a race. She was adventurous and risked a storm a week before she was supposed to leave. She took a chance with Charlie and found love with him. Only, it wasn't real. She'd gone missing and never came back after sailing through the storm. The person that Charlie spent time with was a ghost.

The paramedic that saved Charlie had cancer. When he died, he requested that his medallion be given to Charlie. It was supposed to be his answer to why he came back to life and was given a second chance. Turned out, he was supposed to save Tess. She wasn't dead. She was stranded in the middle of the ocean with hypothermia. Charlie found her just in time and saved her life.

This movie was full of heart, dedication, promises, and love. It was the most touching movie I've seen this year. I think this is Zac Efron's best movie yet. Definitely a must-see :)

P.S. Charlie and Tess had the cutest chemistry! I loved them together in this movie :D

Favorite Books I've Read in 2011: Night Walker

Posted on 14:57 by Unknown
For my fourth installment, I have Night Walker by Lisa Kessler. Check it out below!

I met Lisa through email. I won a giveaway for her Night Walker trading cards. When I sent her my address, she told me she was signing books in a city near me and invited me to come and meet her. The rest is history.

Meeting Lisa was so awesome. She's so funny and charming and really cool. I was lucky enough to meet her, get a picture with her, get a short interview, and just be a friend in general. Below is a picture when I met her. Then, check out my post where I talked more about Meeting Lisa Kessler.

Now, about her book. Night Walker was kind of a mystery to me. I had no clue what it was about. As it turned out, it was a vampire novel! Who would have known? Not me, obviously. Should have known from the title, though. Her famous slogan is: "He gave up his soul for a second chance to love her." This book was amazing. I can't wait to read the second novel, Night Demon :)

Calisto was a Night Walker with an affinity for a raven - a GIANT raven. Night Walkers were known for being healers during his time. No one knew that he fed on the living humans to survive. Calisto used to be a priest who fell in love with an Indian woman. He decided to marry her and tell the head priest about it. Little did he know that the priest would betray him. His true love ended up being murdered, with their unborn child with her. He decided to become a Night Walker in hopes that her soul will be reincarnated and have a second chance to renew their love. Centuries passed of empty hopes until Kate came along...

Kate was the reincarnation of Calisto's true love. She lived in Las Vegas and was a music teacher. When her heart was broken by a cheating boyfriend, she went back to her parent's home. As soon as she went back, the nightmares plagued her sleep. She had a feeling that she knew the woman in them. Then, she met Calisto. She didn't know it yet but Calisto was her true love. Long story short, she was in danger of a psychotic priest that came to hunt her down to sacrifice so that Calisto will turn him into a Night Walker. In the end, good overcame evil and Kate became a Night Walker. Calisto wasn't about to give her up a second time.

Junk Miles by Liz Reinhardt Review

Posted on 12:20 by Unknown
This book was a great sequel to the first one!!! I was hooked! In many parts, it was so sad and brought me back so many memories of my one and only past relationship. At first, it didn't affect me, but later on, it started getting to me a little bit. Liz Reinhardt is a phenomenal author and I'm glad I get to read her books!

In this second installment of the Brenna Blixen novel - by the way, don't you just love that name? - Brenna made the biggest mistake of her life. She broke up with Jake...for Saxon. Brenna was miserable but so was Jake. Saxon was in love with Brenna and he hoped that she would learn to love him, too. Unfortunately, what Brenna had with Jake was true love, therefore, Saxon had no chance. Ouch.

Brenna went to Paris with her mom and unexpectedly, Saxon was there with his mom. Typical Saxon, he would aggravate Brenna as much as he could. However, Brenna saw in him what no one else did - he was strangely misunderstood. He purposely did the things he did because of his upbringing. He didn't know anything else. For most of the book, I felt bad for Saxon. I hoped that he would find love in this second book, but he only ended up drunk and passed out. Here's to hoping that he really would get his chance on the third book *cross fingers*.

Brenna broke Jake's heart so Jake purposely hurt her in the only way he knew how: sleeping with other women. This time, it was this girl Nikki who was absolutely a mess. Fortunately, Brenna and Jake got back together after she had a scare with pneumonia, went to prom, and resumed where they left off. I LOVE that they communicate so well with each other. It made me wish that my next relationship would be somewhat the same - with open communication. It is what builds a strong relationship. I truly admire them both, and they're only in high school!

In this book, the big secret was revealed. It turned out, Jake knew all along. In Chapter 22, Saxon and Jake sounded like Damon and Stefan from the Vampire Diaries TV show! Anyway, towards the end of the book, Jake hinted about a decision that might change everything, or make them stronger. I can't wait to read the third book and find out!

Before you read my favorite quotes/scenes, I only had one small dislike (as with all the books I read), there were very minimal spelling/word errors. Fortunately, the book was so good, I just ignored them. Although, I saw the first mistake as I was reading the very first page. Just a thought for editing :)

Favorite quotes/scenes in order of occurrence.
This first quote hit home for me. I've heard the same words said to me, and it had the same effect to Brenna: it broke both our hearts.
Jake: "Whatever. Take care of yourself. I guess I'll see you around."
Saxon: "Because I saw his fucking love-struck face, Brenna. I saw the two of you. Why am I even bothering? Seriously, get the hell out of my car."
Jake: "You ripped me up." There was no malice or accusation in his words, and that made it feel like I had swallowed a bear trap. It was just us in the hall with his words stacked between us, naked strong. "I'm probably still not really over you and everything that happened. But I've been doing things, saying things that I hoped would hurt you, and that's dick. That's a sad-sack excuse for the way I acted, though. You'll always be someone I care about and admire. So, I'm sorry. If I hurt you, if I made you upset. I'm honestly sorry, Brenna."
Saxon: (he was picking up Brenna to go to dinner, then the Folly concert) "Holy shit. Seriously, let's hit your bedroom. Now."
Saxon: "Don't talk circles around me, Blix. You like me too much to tell me the truth, don't you? Oh my fucking god, I've moved into the damn friend zone."
Saxon: "I made a fool out of myself over you for weeks, and shame the fuck on me, because you were never into this, were you? Were you?"
Jake: "I've never, ever been so mad at anyone in my life, Bren. But I can't help missing you. I've never had anyone in my life like you. I've been trying to tell you for the last few days...that I want to be friends. Not just in that cheesy way people say it when they don't mean it. I want to talk to you sometimes. I don't want to spend every day in class avoiding each other."
Saxon: "The look on your face when he walks into the room? That's love, Bren. I can't compete with that no matter how many times I jerk you off in my car. I know why I worked for you. I'm glad it lasted while it did."
Jake: "He's smart. I mean, he's like a genius. And he's loyal, in a weird way. And he's good-looking, I guess. I mean, I know girls find him attractive. Or whatever." He shook his head. "It's pretty weird sitting in your room defending fucking Saxon of all people."
Brenna's Mom: "It's just these kids are raised text messaging. Their syntax is abysmal. Please promise me you'll never spell the word 'before' with the numeral four."
I love video games so this next quote was a definite favorite!
Jake: "This is Little Big Planet. Have you ever played this game? This game is the most amazing game in the world. This game will change your life. Are you ready to play this game? Brenna, stop laughing. Are you ready?"
This next one is cliche, but I love how Liz explained WHY :)
Jake: "You look great no matter what, but I love you without makeup on. You look so beautiful and, I guess I feel like I get to see you in a way no other guy gets to."
Jake: "Hey. Today started out pretty awesome. Let's skip, I'll take you to the new Christian Bale movie so you can squeal over him and then I'll take you back to my place and you can calm my bruised ego. Eh? Eh?"
Jake: "Come under the covers with me. I'm freezing."
Brenna: "You're the moron who just took off all of your clothes."
Jake: "So I'm dumb and cold. Take some pity on me. I'll beg."
Jake: "You have great hair."
Brenna: "Yeah? I was thinking of dyeing it black."
He smiled and shook his head.
Brenna: "What, you don't have anything to say?"
Jake: "No way. If I say what I think, you'll have black hair tomorrow just to spite me."
Jake: "Did I ever tell you I played the flutaphone when I was in third grade? My music teacher said I had real potential."
Jake was picking up Brenna to go to his prom.
Jake: "Holy shit." Jake's mouth swung open. Mom and Thorsten looked at him in surprise. "Sorry. Excuse me." Jake turned bright red. "But, seriously, wow. She looks amazing."
Jake talking about Nate - Brenna's date to the other prom.
Jake: "I'm going to stare him down. No contact, cause I'm not a psycho, but I am going to do a little eyeball intimidation."
Now you've read my awesome review. What are you waiting for? Go and buy the book. I'll even help you out and leave you links below!

Biore Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser Review

Posted on 00:47 by Unknown
A friend told me that Clean & Clear was one of the most drying product out there. So, after I finished all my Clean & Clear products, I decided to go and buy Biore to try.

I was so excited to try a new product - this was my first Biore cleanser. It really lives up to its name. After washing my face at night, my face was so cool, it felt like I was standing in front of the freezer for a minute or so. It was really weird how it worked.

The feeling of the cleanser while washing was amazing. It felt soft and smooth and cleansing. That was pretty much all that was good to it.

I ended up offering this product to my aunt to try if she wanted to. It definitely did not work for me because it dried out my face, I felt like I had food allergies. My chin burned, the corners of my nose burned, it was miserable. I really wanted to like Biore but I won't lie to myself; it just didn't work out for me.

So, I guess I'm back to Clean and Clear. Or maybe I should just try St. Ives. Their exfoliating scrub works for me. It's what I used to calm my dried, flaming skin after Biore. I will go and look for a nice cleanser when I go to Walmart again. I'm excited!

********************************************

I hope this review was helpful. Watch out for a Christmas haul video soon. I'm sorry I'm not posting many videos. I don't want to bore you with an enormous amount of haul videos. I know they're probably not the most interesting things to watch.

Okay, I've rambled on too much. I hope you all have a great rest of the holidays!

Favorite Books I've Read in 2011: Personal Demons

Posted on 14:54 by Unknown
For my third installment, I want to talk about Personal Demons by Lisa Desrochers. Check it out below!

I had no idea this book existed until I volunteered at the public library bookstore to help selling this book while the author come in and talk to everyone. I was SO excited to be there because I've never met an author before! I researched the author, found out she had a blog, even tweeted her before the event. I was so happy, but I was the only one who bought the book. Sad, I know, but I got her autograph and I even got a big poster!

Frannie - she was the daughter of very religious parents. In fact, with all her sisters, they were all named Mary. The only way to differentiate them was by their middle name. Frannie had no idea of the powers she possessed. One of them was Sight where she has visions of tragedies. She tried to stop them but no one would believe her. The other power she had is the one sought after by Hell: Sway. She only had to wish it in her mind and she would influence the person it was directed to. Because of this, she was chased by the creatures of Hell to use for their own sick means.

Luc - he was the demon. He was so hot, Frannie couldn't help thinking about him when he's near. His air of danger is what was so attractive to him, but of course, Frannie had no idea that he was a demon. His goal was to tag Frannie's soul to Hell. If he fails, his boss, the mighty Lucifer will send him to the worst parts of Hell. Towards the end of this book, Frannie had influenced him so much that he fell in love with her, and oh, here it comes - turned human. What do you know about that?

Gabe - he was the angel. He was also hot, but he had an air of peace instead of danger. He was powerful, but he wasn't the Gabriel we all know. He's the right hand man of God's right hand man. Yeah, interesting stuff. Anyway, he couldn't compete with Luc, he wasn't interesting enough? He also had a mission, and that was to tag Frannie's soul for Heaven. He couldn't do so, however, until Frannie forgave herself about accidentally killing her brother. Funny story, her brother actually became her guardian angel at the end of the book :)

Check out my review here.
I was lucky enough to get a picture with Lisa and record an interview with her. Check it out here.
Finally, check out this tag if you want to see the posters and the swags I received :)

Hot Picks (Top 3)

Posted on 21:06 by Unknown
One day, I was in the car with Ashley from Typing Tiara and I was telling her about this hot celebrity that I was currently swooning over. Then, she suggested that I do a blog post on it so everyone can read about it! What a great idea! Check out my picks below!

Alex Pettyfer

This man is beautiful. What else is beautiful? His British accent. I absolutely love looking at him. His attitude toward America or Hollywood is not as attractive but other than that, I love him. He absolutely has no problem taking his shirt off as you can see in the pictures below.

He has the most beautiful bone structure for a man. It's simply stunning.

Need I say more?

Ian Somerhalder

What I love most about him is his eyes. What I can say, I have a weakness for colored eyes :) And that smile, I mean, it's sexy, right?! It lets me know that he's got trouble in his mind, all the time ;)

In addition, he makes a really sexy vampire. He makes blood sucking really attractive! Check out this video of him getting flirty with the TV host and giving her a little "bite" ;)

I wouldn't mind getting bitten if the vampire is as hot as him! :)

Joe Manganiello

This man is a giant with a six-pack. Wow. When I first saw him on True Blood, my jaw dropped. He will set any woman on fire, lol. He's also very tan which adds to his heat level. I wouldn't mind going for a werewolf if they're all going to be as hot as him!

Those are the sexiest pants I've ever seen. Who agrees with me? :)

Who are your top hot picks? :)

Christmas Tag

Posted on 13:44 by Unknown
Thanks to my #twitterbffs Bereniice for tagging me :)

What are you doing for the holidays this year?
I will wrap the presents I have for some people, give it to them before Christmas. For my family, I will have the Christmas Eve dinner, maybe open ONE present from under the tree, and then wait til Christmas morning for the rest.
What's your favorite holiday drink?
I don't think I have one. I just mostly drink water.
Candy cane or Gingerbread man?
I've never had either. I don't think I'll like either.
What's your favorite Christmas song?
I don't know a whole lot (or at all)... I like the song about Rudolph and his bright nose!
Have you ever made a Snowman?
I've never seen snow in person :(
What's your favorite winter fragrance?
I don't have one. I usually just wear lotion, whatever I'm in the mood for at the moment.
Favorite Christmas movie?
I read the book before I saw the movie: The Christmas Shoes. I liked the book better, but they were both beautiful portrayals :) Home Alone is okay, too. I don't watch a whole lot of Christmas movies, unfortunately.

Are you on the Naughty or Nice list?
How can you tell? I would say I've been quite nice this year, with a sprinkle of naughty for maybe a quarter of that year.
Show us an embarrassing Christmas card photo.
I've never taken one before :(
Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Nope :(
Where do you usually spend your holiday?
Wherever my family happens to be.
Play or sing your favorite Christmas song.
I don't think I have a favorite.
Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
Yeah. I usually have to be told, though.
Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?
No, I only know Rudolph :)

What holiday tradition are you looking forward to most this year?
It's not technically a tradition because it only started last year, but my aunt would have a raffle and cash prizes :)
Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Fake :)
Hands down, what's your all-time favorite holiday food and holiday sweet treat?
I don't have any. We just have whatever we had on Thanksgiving usually.
Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?
I like to give gifts. For some reason, it makes me all jolly. But of course, I love receiving, too.
Show us your tackiest Christmas attire (i.e.ugly sweater)
I've never had any tacky Christmas attire. I just wear regular clothes. (I know, I'm boring.)
What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
Europe :) If I could travel all of Europe, I would.
Does your family have a special holiday recipe you like to help make?
Not that I know of. Ever since we immigrated here, everything we eat is Americanized.
Are you a professional present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?
If you give me a perfectly square (or rectangle box), I can wrap it decently. It's not the best but it's okay. Otherwise, just get a bag and put the content in there. Less wrapping time needed.
Most memorable holiday moment.
I'm not sure I have one. I just spend it with my family with not much going on.
What made you realize the truth about Santa?
When the chocolate bars in the fridge disappeared and I found them in my stockings. Lol!
Do you make New Year's Resolutions, and do you stick to them?
No and no.
What makes the holiday special for you?
Everyone coming together and putting aside their differences and just loving each other.
I tag everyone to do the tag :)
